Gil Silberman is a startup lawyer in de la Peña & Holiday’s San Francisco office. He specializes startup formation, angel and venture funding transactions, and general corporate mentoring and counsel.

Gil Silberman has been a partner at law firms large and small, counseling promising startup companies through formation and early stages of growth. He is a general business / corporate law practitioner, and compares his practice to that of a family doctor for startup technology companies.

A Princeton electrical and software engineer by training, Silberman turned down a top-10 firm offer straight out of Berkeley Law School to co-found Britton, Silberman & Cervantez LLP with DLPH partner Brent Britton. Together they were first outside lawyers to Craigslist, OpenTable, LinkedIn, and a few other well-known startups — not to mention a chocolate factory, construction contractors, architects, retail brands, a submarine builder, jazz band, and hundreds of other ventures. Dozens of clients have had liquidity events, generating tens of billions of dollars in founder wealth.

In addition to his service for de la Peña & Holiday, Silberman is Chief Legal Officer of Equidate, Inc., a venture-funded fintech company. He has been general counsel to a venture fund, various startup companies, and has also run startups of his own, including a popular San Francisco restaurant.
